IELTS Speaking Part 1: Home Accommodation

1.Do you live in a house or flat?

I live in a home. My house has two floors. And each floor has two bedrooms, where my grandparents live on the ground floor. And on the first floor are my parents, my brother, and I live. 

2. What is your favourite room in your home? 

My favourite room in my home is my room, which is my territory. I have designed it in a certain way. And I have put pictures of my interest. 

3. What have you done to your room to make it look nice?

 I have put some family pictures and pictures of my close friends. And I like to play. I’ve put some motivational quotes that make it very interesting.

4. Who do you live with?

 I live with my parents, my brother, and my grandparents. 

5. Which room does your family spend most of the time in?

 We mainly gather in the living area. And in the living area, at the corner, there is this dining table where we sit for dinner. And mostly we enjoy a movie over there.

 6. How long have you lived here? 

I have lived here since my birth. I’ve lived in only one house, and that is this.

 7. What do you usually do in your house?

 I typically turn on music and do whatever I feel like. And mostly, what I usually do depends on what is currently happening. So, as of now, I have recently graduated. I need more work to do. So I mostly spend time with my parents and my brother. Apart from that, I always turn on music if I’m arranging my room or doing something else.

 8. Are the transport facilities to your home very well? 

Yes, the transport facilities to my home are excellent. There are two-way roads around. Main roads are also nearby. Our sector, or the face, is in the centre of Mohali. And it has excellent road connectivity.

9. Do you plan to move?

 I wish to move to some other place where I can go and build a house because I have lived with my parents and family. And it’s been 23 years now. And I wish to move to some other place and have my own house. 

10. Would you like to change anything about your home? 

I want to change my room to my parent’s room if given a choice because my parents’ room is way more interesting. It has excellent colour, and it has lovely windows. 

11. Are there many amenities near your home? 

We have worship places near my home, like temples, gurudwara, and mosques. Nearby, there are two super-specialty hospitals. Just outside, adjacent to the sector, there is a police station. And there are a few dormitory places nearby. And the place has greenery and parks all around. And it has excellent facilities for people to work out as a cricket stadium is nearby. There are many gyms also. And there is a beautiful marketplace with all the necessary things we need to buy. 

12. Do you prefer living in a house or a flat?

I like living in a home because I have lived in a house since birth. And I am comfortable with the idea of living in a house. However, if I look at flats, they are fine. I am more comfortable living in a home. So I would prefer to live here only.
