IELTS Speaking Part 1:Robots
1. Are robots important?
Robots are very important because, in this modern era, there is a lot of competition, so people need more time to engage in real tasks. In such a scenario, robots are very handy because robots can easily handle those repetitive tasks that make people feel bored and monotonous. Moreover, infections are on the rise, so putting humans in all the work is risky, and where the chances of getting infected by a virus are high, robots are a good choice. We are talking about making inroads in space, and efforts are being made to explore other planets. In such a scenario, robots are very handy because they can operate in harsh weather conditions.
2. Do robots affect people’s lives?
Yes, robots affect people’s lives in both positive and negative manner. If we talk about the positive side, robots handle the menial tasks, and due to that, humans can put their energy towards thinking creatively. Moreover, they save human lives by doing harsh tasks, which is dangerous for humans. On the contrary, they make us lazy because if we keep assigning every task to robots, our tendency to do hard work declines. Moreover, with artificial intelligence, there could be a scenario in the future where robots become better than human beings, and they can start dictating their terms to normal people.
3. Have you ever watched a movie about robots?
Yes, I vividly remember three years back, I watched a movie by famous Indian superstar Rajinikanth. The movie’s name is Robot, and that’s an amazing movie. It shows a beautiful concept that putting emotions inside a robot can wreak havoc, so prudently using robotics is highly important before making any robots.
4. Should we let a robot drive for us for a long time?
There’s no problem if a robot drives for us for a long time because it is safer as, unlike humans, robots are programmed machines that go according to a prescribed speed set by the user. Secondly, if they are properly charged, robots will not easily get tired. Hence, their chances of making errors could be lower. Thirdly, if robots are driving, the people sitting in the vehicle can do more creative tasks like doing office work, talking to their family members, or thinking about a new idea or plan.
5. What can robots do for you at home?
As far as robots are concerned, they can do multiple tasks with tremendous ease. Firstly, they can help with household chores like cutting vegetables or washing utensils, mopping, and dusting. Apart from that, they can do significantly difficult tasks like carrying a lot of weight on their shoulders, and they can do numeric and alphanumeric calculations as well.
6. What is a robot?
A robot is a programmed machine that works like a human for physical work; it does not have emotions and helps humans do various tasks.
7. How do robots differ from humans regarding functionality and abilities?
The basic difference between a robot and a human is that humans are living beings, whereas robots are machines. Humans derive their energy from food, whereas robots run on electricity. Regarding abilities, humans have an advantage over robots in that they can think differently and have good cognitive abilities. On the contrary, robots work on what is programmed inside, so they thrive primarily on human beings.
8. What are the main components of a typical robot?
The main component of a typical robot is its structure, which should be robust enough to handle inclement weather and other harsh conditions. Apart from that, it must have paths that connect it with the internet to perform optimally, and third, it should have a very good operating system that needs to be updated regularly.
9. What are some common tasks that robots are designed to perform?
The common task that robots are designed to perform is working in harsh environments. Apart from that, menial tasks like mopping, dusting, and cleaning, these tasks robots can do with ease.
10. How are robots programmed to carry out specific tasks?
Software engineers are pivotal in helping the robots carry out specific tasks. They program the robots by creating code consisting of an algorithm. Based on the input received from the algorithm, the robots perform various functions.
11. What are the potential benefits of using robots in various industries?
The best benefit of using robots is that organizations can save money by reducing their costs drastically because robots are a one-time investment. Once it is done, they work on electricity and basic changes in the algorithm.
12. What are the advantages of using robots in various industries? The advantage of using robots is that they are very efficient and can perform tasks precisely. If you assign a task to a robot by giving the right input, it will do the same task in the same manner, even 1000 times. On the contrary, human beings can do various tasks but are prone to making mistakes. So, robots are used in various industries.
13. What are some ethical considerations surrounding the use of robots?
There is no denying this conviction that there are various ethical considerations. One which is prominent is that the overuse of robots is counterproductive for humanity. If we start using robots for most tasks, dependence on human beings will decline drastically, leading to massive job losses. Moreover, since robots do not have emotions, it will lead to a society in which people will keep emotions at bay, and they will become overly logical.
14. How do advancements in robotics affect the job market and employment?
Advancements in robotics will lead to a substantial impact on the job market and employment. On the positive side, robots will handle menial tasks and empower humans to think more creatively. People would focus on making breakthroughs because they need not indulge in small tasks. On the contrary, unskilled people will lose their jobs because robots will perform the tasks better than them.
