IELTS Speaking Part 1:Car Trip

1.Do you like to travel by car? 

Yes, I like to travel by car because it is convenient and comfortable. 

2. When do you travel by car?

 I often travel in a car with my family. If we have to go to some family outing or for daily work. I often travel by car. 

3. What do you enjoy most about travelling by car compared to other modes of transportation? 

The fact that the car has a comfortable space. It has good seats, and the back doesn’t hurt when seated in a car. The second thing is the views from the car window are very eye-catching. It is a good experience to travel by car.

 4. Can you share a memorable experience while travelling in a car?

 My friends and I went on a road trip in a car. It was a very enjoyable experience. We went to a nearby hill station. The views were excellent. Any trip with friends is always fun. 

5. What essentials do you usually pack for a long car journey?

 Usually, we carry some go-to snacks and water. Also, we carry a blanket or shawl if the weather is extremely cold. It is always nice to carry a small cushion or pillow for back comfort in case of a long drive. 

6. Do you prefer driving or being a passenger when travelling by car? 

I like to be a passenger while on a car journey. Firstly, I still need to learn how to drive a four-wheeler. Secondly, I am very good at giving directions and remembering the directions as well. I prefer being in the passenger seat to help the driver. 

7. What tips would you give someone planning their first road trip? 

Here are some tips that I can give to a person if they are planning to go on a road trip. Firstly, they should carry basic things like water and go-to snacks. Along with that, they should also carry some disposable. They should have luggage. They should pack minimally, and the luggage should be very small. 

Apart from that, they should also keep some foldable chairs in a convenient location. If they are on a long highway with no restaurant nearby, they can also carry a few electric kettles that need to be charged. They don’t need to be plugged in in case of extreme weather. They can also carry small cushions and blankets. 

8. How do you entertain yourself during long car rides?

 During long car rides, if I am travelling with my family, I am mostly supposed to play music. I ensure that I keep the playlist relatable to my parents and brother. They enjoy the view and the music. 

9. What are some of your favourite snacks or foods for a car trip? 

Some go-to snacks can be fried because fried food can be preserved for hours. Apart from that, we can also carry some chips along with cold drinks if the weather is suitable. If not, then we can also carry some instant coffee mixtures. 

10. Have you ever had any funny or unexpected encounters while travelling by car? 

Yes, recently we travelled to Rajasthan by car. My brother and I were checking the directions. There were two routes to reach the destination. Out of this, we chose the route on the highway. It is always convenient to drive on a highway. Due to my brother’s negligence, we skipped a turn, which was the only turn. 

After that, we had to take a U-turn about 100 km from there. Throughout the 100 km journey, my mother and I laughed at my father’s scolding of my brother. He chose to guide through maps. While I was giving them directions, he told me that my younger brother could do that. We were having fun, which was fun because we had a good time. 

11.What are some safety precautions you take before embarking on a car journey? 

We can carry a small first aid kit with a bandage. Apart from that, if the driver is sleepy, having coffee or tea is always nice because it is a good source of caffeine to stay alert.
