IELTS Speaking Part 1:Advertisement

IELTS Speaking Part 1:Advertisement

How do you think advertising influences consumer behaviour and purchasing decisions?

Advertisements are an excellent way of influencing people’s minds and their choices when buying a particular product compared to another. Everybody uses products daily, and they prefer using a specific product over the other. Mostly, the influence comes from advertisements, which are shown through mass media or social media. People also appreciate it these days, and this market is growing widely.

What are some of the most effective advertising strategies you have encountered, and why do they work well?

So, when it comes to mass media, certain brands use taglines, and even if people forget what the brand is about, they remember the tagline because it is very catchy. It is one way of marketing and advertising, and people remember it, and they have to believe in the product because it is displayed significantly.

How has the rise of digital advertising changed the landscape of marketing and consumer engagement?

Digital advertisement has played a vital role. Nowadays, before people buy any product, they surf the internet and search for the product they are trying to buy. They go through it and follow the influencers trying to help the brand grow. It has played a vital role because the media, in general, is influential. It influences people’s minds, and through the privilege of the marketing industry and advertisement, people can learn about various products. In the race of competition, brands have also tried to improve their products for the consumers.

How does advertising impact society’s perceptions of beauty, success, and happiness?

Society’s perception of anything, be it beauty, success, or happiness, comes from the idea of being known in society. Suppose a person is taking a particular product as a status symbol that comes from thought and some influence. Marketing and advertisement, in general, influence people, and people tend to buy those products. After people buy that product, they experience happiness. They feel they have accomplished something in their life, making them successful.

What role does storytelling play in effective advertising?

I have heard it from somewhere in my relatives. Somebody told me that a person is a salesperson. He told me that we don’t sell the product. Our product is sold because of the story. If somebody goes into the market and sells their product directly, that I have this product, buy this, nobody will buy that. But if you go and tell people a story and convince them of the importance of that product, they will certainly consider buying it. So, storytelling is very vital.

Why do you think there is increased consumer scepticism toward traditional advertising?

Traditional advertising has been practised for so many years. Consumers have automatically created a comfortable space for themselves. And they rely on products that are advertised traditionally.

What are the advantages of digital advertising?

There are many advantages of digital advertising. First of all, it is of great benefit to the person who is selling the product. It helps the person to have a more significant market. And the person can sell the product across the country. And even to other states, other countries, to everybody. Because a digital platform is comprehensive, we get a wide variety if we talk about the consumers. They experience a lot of products in the market. So when people have choices, they tend to make up their minds. It has become easier because everybody is trying to get the best possible product in the digital marketing era. So, it is a great platform to explore every option and check before buying.

How do you think social media platforms have revolutionized advertising?

Social media platforms have given the pace to the advertising industry. Before social media, advertisements were traditional. People used to advertise through mass media, television, newspapers, magazines, or sometimes public awareness campaigns or exhibitions. But now you don’t have to go and get the information. You need to scroll through your daily Instagram or Facebook feed. And the advertisement will come on your own. If you search for any product or book on Google, you will automatically start getting recommendations on the other apps. So digital marketing is taking a pace in today’s era. It is also more beneficial to consumers and sellers.

What are some of the challenges associated with advertising on social media platforms?

There can be many challenges with the hustle of advertising through social media platforms. When it comes to advertising through social media, you put a tremendous amount of time, energy, and resources into an ocean where you are not picky about your consumers. So, for big brands, it is a minor deal. However, it becomes difficult for emerging brands or various startups to manage the funds to reach the target audience because social media is available for everybody. Another point I would like to add is that many products are generally only for specific age groups. But children these days are very active on social media. So they get to come through the advertisement of various products they need to become more familiar with or are not supposed to be familiar with because of their age. It is not just about products. Specific adventures can be advertised through that. So it can have a negative impact as well.
