IELTS Speaking Part 1: Public gardens and parks
1.Would you like to play in a public garden or park?
I want to play in a public garden because it is more extensive. And it has more facilities given by the government.
2. What do you like to do when visiting a park?
I like to plug in the earphones and listen to good music while having a walk.
3. How have parks changed today compared to before?
Parks these days have more facilities, more attractive and safe swings, and slides for children. These parks also have open gym types of equipment.
4. Would you prefer to play in a personal garden or a public garden?
I prefer playing in a public garden because being around people is always good. And by being around people, you get to interact with new people. And that is always very interesting to me.
5. What are some essential factors to consider when planning the layout of a garden?
To design a garden’s layout, one should always care about the area or the size given. An appropriate type of plant should be used for the fencing, and if a swing is being implanted in that garden, then that swing should not be in the center. It should be at the corner.
6. How do different types of soil affect the growth of plants in a garden? Various types of soils have other qualities which affect the plant’s growth. For example, if the soil is arid and has fewer nutrients or minerals, the plant might not grow as well. Certain soils are there, which are blended with manures and fertilizers for better plant growth.
7. What are some practical methods for controlling pests and diseases in a garden without using harmful chemicals?
Certain natural and herbal medications can be used to avoid pests in a plant. For example, the neem leaves can be boiled, and the water can be sprayed or sprinkled on the plants to prevent flies and pests.
8. How can gardeners effectively incorporate sustainable practices such as composting and rainwater harvesting into their gardening routines?
Gardeners can incorporate sustainable practices like composting by digging a pit in the garden area, which can be covered monthly. When the pit is complete with the recyclable trash, it can be layered with a layer of soil. Also, rainwater harvesting can be done by placing unused big vessels in the garden to collect the rainwater and use it to water the plants.
9. What are some popular flowers that are easy to grow in a garden?
Some popular flowers are roses and marigolds; then, in some areas, bougainvillaea is also grown, and it is one of the low-maintenance plants in the area.
10. How can gardeners create a wildlife-friendly garden to attract beneficial insects, birds, and other creatures?
The gardener can create a wildlife-friendly garden by being less, letting the garden area form its fauna and flora, and not intruding in between and disturbing the natural formation of insects.
11. What are the benefits of incorporating edible plants such as herbs and vegetables into a garden?
There can be many benefits. First, if the garden is linked to a house or a housing society, then the fruits, vegetables, or herbs can be used in their meals. Stray or pet animals can also use or eat these herbs and fruits.
12. How can gardeners design a garden to maximize beauty and functionality in a small urban space?
In a small urban space, the gardener can strategically plan the type of plant grown in particular places. For example, the gardener should use something other than climbers in between the garden. The climbers or the creepers should be at the sides where the fencing is done so they can take help from the fence to grow. Similarly, if they are planting a tree, it should not be in between. The tree should be at a place where there is a little swing so that when the tree grows, it can provide fruits and or vegetables and shade to that slide.
13. How often should gardeners water their plants, and what signs indicate when plants need watering?
The plants need to be watered every day. Most importantly, the plants should be watered according to their need. For example, if succulents are present, they need not be watered every day. At the same time, flower-bearing plants like roses and marigolds must be watered daily. Additionally, if there are signs of dried leaves or the soil cracking, those are the signs that the plant needs water.
