IELTS CUE CARD TOPIC

Describe a useful object in your home that you can’t live without
You should say:

  • What it is
  • How often do you use it
  • How you use it
  • And explain why you can’t live without it.

Sample 1

A helpful object in my home that I can’t live without is a washing machine. We use it every second day; if not, we use it whenever needed. We use it by plugging it into an electricity supply; the settings have already been saved.

We usually set the timer and put the detergent into the tray, and we close the lid of the machine and put it to start. It usually takes one hour to wash one cycle of clothes. It not only cleans the clothes, but it also rinses them well and dries them. And after that, a very slow alarm rings. That is when we know the clothes we put on are washed now.

After that, the clothes are sun-dried if required. I can’t live without a washing machine. I realized this fact when I was in the hostel, and we didn’t have a washing machine. I used to put all my dirty clothes in one bag and visit my home every month. I used to carry that dirty clothes bag, come here to my house, and put it into the washing machine to wash it.

I cannot wash clothes because I need to learn how to wash clothes without a washing machine. It is more because I get chill burns on my hands and feet whenever I wash clothes, particularly in winter. So I don’t prefer washing clothes and cannot live without a washing machine. I know everything about survival, but washing clothes is one thing I cannot do without a washing machine.

Sample 2

In my home, I use many devices daily in my routine life, but the most useful one in my house is my laptop. It was gifted to me by my dad on my 25th birthday, and it is blue, and the company name is HP.

So, I use my laptop daily for my work and playing games. It helps me to do my IT work and helps daily use. It also allows me to earn money because I am doing my official work on my laptop, and I have learned many things from this laptop because I have a passion for learning new things. With the help of the internet, I can explore many things, which helps me to develop my lifestyle and skills in IT.

So, if I talk about my laptop, it also has my data, which is only related to me or my personal life. So, I would like to keep this as a memory and many things that I do not want to disclose to anyone. So, this is the one product I want to take advantage of, and I cannot live without it.

Sample 3

As we know, there are lots of objects present in our homes. Today, I would like to discuss one of my favourite objects, my black colour bag.

It is an object where we can carry anything, such as clothes, water bottles, pens, pencils, notebooks, etc. I often use it in my daily work in my city to carry cash for banks or any other work, even though I mainly prefer to have my essentials such as sando, shakers, and sports shoes, which helps me greatly on weekends.

Whenever I go outside of my house, as there are many chains in my bag, I can carry anything in different chains. I can’t live without it because I am afraid to take any purse to save my cash, and now I am dependent on my bag, and it is as it is my favourite object. I can’t live without it.
